Many of the expats are excited about celebrating Halloween!
Are you wondering what to do on Halloween in Dublin?
Families with kids, staying in town:
- Get ready by making OR buying all you need (about buying - have you checked out the Halloween shop in Dundrum yet?)
- Prepare your sweets and/or bags. What do you like most - to trick-or-treat yourselves or open the door for the trick-or-treaters?
- This is about the only time in the year when you can buy sparkly lights, so you might want to get a stash for other upcoming celebrations!
- Celebrate in style!
Here come Halloween Parties and trick-or-treating. Don’t miss the experience - where else on this side of the globe can kids actually get sweets by knocking on strangers’ doors in the country capital on Halloween? Usually it’s a good idea to have at least a couple of adults with the kids’ party, and if you are that adult - you’re having all the fun!
There’re loads of Halloween trails and camps in all of your kids’ favourite museums and clubs, however, what distinguishes those from the other seasons’ children’s entertainment is merely your child’s costume and some decorations.
Wait a minute, but…we are in Ireland! So, of course, not a long drive away from the city there’s always something special on Halloween.
Farms, which are delighted to share the celebration with you.
And here we can recommend some of the most interesting places we know of:
- Spooky one: The Causey Farm - been there ourselves, like every bit of it, however, can be a little too scary for smaller kids.
- Photogenic one: Balycross Farm. This year’s special - riding a tractor and picking out your very own pumpkin. Why photogenic? Have you seen those sweet Autumn photos with pumpkins? It’s well worth the drive!
- Popular one: Killruddery Farm.

If you are a fan of railway experiences, there’s the Spooky express to catch.
However, not everything is about kids!
Daring adults are about to have a lot of fun, too, starting with dress-up parties, and, say, the Bram Stoker Festival!
Then, if we go up the adventurousness scale, would you dare to explore real haunted places? Or, if you a fan of Ghost Busters, would you be interested in seeking the paranormal?
Finally, a scary story for your entertainment!
